ANYA Charitable Trust · Seppa, East Kameng · Arunachal Pradesh

Empowering lives
with love.

In the Nyishi language, Anya means love. We carry it to the Puroik and other marginalized tribal communities of Arunachal Pradesh — through education, residential care, healthcare and the dignity of self-reliance.

About the Trust

One man's response, grown into a movement.

ANYA Charitable Trust grew from an injustice its founder could not ignore. Agung Lapung — a government officer who later retired to give the work his whole life — began paying, from his own earnings, to educate children of the Puroik: a community held in bonded labour until 1999 and marginalized ever since.

Registered as a trust on 13 January 2025, ANYA Charitable Trust now runs the Anya Residential School and works across East Kameng and Bichom districts — giving forest-dwelling children the classroom, bed and meal that make education possible at all. In the Nyishi language, Anya means love; it is the whole of our method.

The Model Residential School.

On a 179 × 120 m site at Peo village, ANYA Charitable Trust is raising a purpose-built residential campus for children of the Puroik and other marginalized communities — classrooms, dormitories, a kitchen, a clinic and playing fields — designed to prove that tribal education, done properly, need concede nothing to anyone.

Education here stays free of cost, removing the economic barrier entirely. It is our largest undertaking, and the one that most needs partners who will build alongside us.

Success stories

Education is the only road that can break the chains of poverty and restore dignity, hope and opportunity. No child should be denied it because of where they were born.
